Papakea, Maui, Hawaii
Our First Family Vacation-Maui March 2009
Experiencing paradise beyond the Caribbean
Why This Trip Matters:
This trip showed me that not every incredible vacation has to be all-inclusive. Maui offered a completely different experience—more exploring, more planning, and a deeper connection to the destination itself.
What Made It Special:
- Stunning natural beauty—from beaches to mountains to waterfalls
- The freedom to explore at your own pace
- A more immersive, adventure-style vacation
My Experience:
Staying at a condo-style resort like Papakea gave us flexibility, but also required more planning—meals, excursions, and transportation. It helped me truly understand the difference between a fully planned all-inclusive trip and a more independent travel style.
Why It Matters for My Clients:
This experience helps me guide clients who may be deciding between an all-inclusive Caribbean trip and a destination like Hawaii. Both are amazing—but they offer very different vacation styles, and I help match that to what you actually want.
Best time to visit
April–June & September–November for the best mix of great weather and fewer crowds 🌺 Winter (Dec–March) is popular for whale watching 🐋 but can be busier Summer is beautiful but tends to be more crowded
Bridget's tips
- Rent a car—this is a must in Maui if you want to explore
- Plan a day for the Road to Hana, but start early and take your time (we did not do this with our little ones)
- Mix relaxation days with adventure days so you don’t feel rushed
- Condo stays are great for space and flexibility, but budget for meals and activities (Hawaii can be expensive)
- Book popular excursions in advance, especially during peak seasons
